The "Green Pearl", the LNG bunkering vessel chartered by Axpo in August 2023, has arrived at the Port of Genoa. Once the outfitting work is completed in the Ligurian capital, the vessel will become the first floating example of technology application for continuous ship-to-truck operations.
This project represents a model of innovation valorization, playing a key role in decarbonization efforts within the maritime industry by promoting a more sustainable energy mix.Built on behalf of the ATI consortium between Gas and Heat S.p.A. and San Giorgio del Porto, the vessel, with its distinctive aquamarine color, has earned the name "Green Pearl". It is currently moored at the San Giorgio del Porto shipyard in Genoa, where final completion activities will take place.
These include the installation of tanks and cargo systems (manufactured in Livorno by Gas and Heat S.p.A.), commissioning, and operational testing before delivery to the shipowner and subsequently to the charterer for the start of operations.
